I am starting an organic vegetable garden and I’m looking to enhance my garden soil with some home made compost. I have not bought a composter, but I would like to see if I can make my own composter.
Also, and I’m not sure what exactly I need to put in it. All I know is that I can use the remains of vegetables and fruits, but I don’t know if only raw vegetables or I can use cooked vegetables….. and what else I can put in the mixture?
Do I mix the food with something… like soil? etc….
Any info about the process will be helpful. Thank you.

They are about the size of a grain of salt. Some are larger, some are smaller. I would like to know if these are harmful to my plants or not. I live in colorado springs colorado, If that helps identify them better. If they are harmful what is a good Organic way of getting rid of them?
They are in planters sitting on the railing of my back porch, if that helps at all.

My boyfriend’s mother did an organic no dig garden last year and she now has leaves and fruits and vegetable peels on the garden composting creating new soil for the coming season. However, a lot of the compost is still leaves and other bric-a-brac, not decomposed yet. Any way to help and speed up the process?

I have an area that I am starting up as a vege garden, but am having trouble due to it drying out and stunting the plants

I water as much as i can and even use a deep root waterer, but unless I do it every day, the plants start to shrivel.

The garden is mulched, soil is poor(quite sandy). I have introduced some compost and manure and the organic material has nearly gone already.

What are some vegetables herbs or other edible/useful plants that I could grow?

I bought a large bag of organic garden soil. But what I really need is potting soil for my citrus trees.
Should I go return the garden soil?
or is there anything I can do to make my garden soil become potting soil?

Is the browning from sunburn or perhaps a lack of nutrients in the soil?

They are also experiencing yellow and white tinges on the leaves.

No fertilisers have been used on the plants, as it was an experiment testing for the most efficient soil out of: organic garden soil, sandy loam soil and potting mix.

My results from the Va Tech soil testing lab lists organic matter at 1.7%. Is that enough? I wish they listed ideal ranges on the explanation sheet that comes with it. Everything else looks pretty good, as best I can understand it.
