So yesterday I notices that on my bush beans somethings been eating the leaves. I looked around and only found 2 ants on my leaves are they capable of this? What can I do? I already have carefully placed Marigolds in my Veggie Garden because I know the smell repels some pests. Are there any insects I could purchase and place in my Garden that are only Carniverous and would eat the bad pests? If not can you suggest any natural, homemade or Organic Pest Control options please help! This is my first ever organic Garden and I really would like to get throught the season without the use of chemicals even organic ones. If this is not feasible any tips are welcome and I’ll weigh my options! Thanks in advance!

I used Jiffy Peat Pellets and my seeds sprouted beautifully. The day before I wanted to plant them in the garden I read that sometimes they contain chemicals to boost performance.

Not good for an organic garden, obviously. How else can I sow seeds without planting them in the ground first?

I am told that nitrogen is bad for roses. Is this true? I would like to know what is the best feed for roses (either made-up chemicals or organic matter). And what substances in the garden are likely to have a high nitrogen content? I am asking this last question so that I can avoid using those substances on roses, if nitrogen is really harmful to them. THANKS! I hope you have LOTS of lovely roses this year in your gardens….

This year marks my first attempt to grow my own tomatoes and squash. It’s so much fun and everything is going beautifully…except for the persistent roli poli problem. They crawl inside the squash blooms and nibble on the squash causing them to die. I really want a healthy garden, and I don’t want to eat veggies chocked full of chemicals and pesticides. It’s been organic for 3 months. Can I maintain it that way??

Should I be concerned that they were on my marigolds, which outline my veggie garden, so should I not worry about it too much. I am trying to be as organic as possible, so I dont want a ton of chemicals all over everything.

My lawn does great with organic gardening, but I can’t stand the ant hills and other pests I find in my yard. I’m trying to find a way to keep chemicals off the lawn, but my children can’t play with ant beds everywhere. Thanks!

We put cow manure on our garden 3 yrs ago. Since then we have had these redlike thorny weeds in our garden. I have hoed and cut them out and disposed of them in the burn barrel to eliminate the seeding but they still come back. What can I do that is organic to rid the garden of them?
Please organic not chemicals.

My mostly organic garden has been infected with a vius or something that is killing my tomato and pepper plants. They have been doing poorly for the last few years. I rotate my crops each year and rarely use chemicals. I did have to use Sevin this year during a freak asian beatle infestation that hit my area. Other than that, no chemicals. I compost and add that to my garden yearly. I know the virus over winters in the soil and was told I needed to steralize the soil. To do this organically I would need to take the garden out of service for a whole season. You basically bake the soil under thick clear plastic for several months. Can chemicals be used safely? Is there a way to do this in a short time period so I do not lose next summers garden? I have always been a messy gardener as far as weeds, spent plants, garden waste/rotting tomatos etc. I know I need to clean up my act so to speak! Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!
