I’d like to grow a garden this year but I know people who have their own gardens where it seems like animals have gone through and eaten some. I’d like to grow a nice, healthy garden without any of those problems. How can I keep bugs and animals away from my garden without using chemicals. I want to grow an organic garden. Thank you.

i found out that it’s not animals eating our vegetable garden…it’s snails. i had no idea they could eat so much! so is there any natural way to get rid of them because we live on an organic vineyard and we can’t use chemicals anywhere near it. so can i use salt or something??

I was thinking, (that is a dangerous act these days - thinking), that at the farm the crops are sprayed and the animals are dosed before they even get to market where they are again treated with more chemicals and then shipped. It all sounds to me like a tripple dose of nasty stuff added. So, how do we really know when we are getting our daily MDA dose of chemicals? To the same extent I think organics also have some chemicals along the way including from your own garden. So what do you think?

I live in a town that is full of stray cats and outdoor cats. And my neighbors adopt cats for the Humane Society, so there are even more right around our property. We have a veggie garden, and I want to put in a second one. The trouble is, these cats all seem to think my garden is a toilet, so it is always full of cat poop.

Is there any way to keep them out of the garden? Preferably something that doesn’t involve chemicals (the garden is entirely organic; the seeds aren’t even treated)? I’m at my wits’ end with these critters.

I have tried eggs shells to deter slugs but they still eat my lettuce seedlings. I have an organic garden so I do not wish to use chemicals. The garden is mulched with organic oats straw to about 10cms. I let my chooks roam for a short time and they help a little.

if organic food is grown without any pesticides how do they keep the insects away?
why is it more expensive if they are saving money on chemicals and such?
do we need to wash it more and watch out for buggies??

I am planting a vegetable garden in a raised flower bed. I want it to be organic, so i don’t want to use a plastic liner. but the soil in my yard has a lot of chemicals from the previous owners and I don’t want them in the vegetables, are there any liners that are not plastic?

I want to build a durable raised bed for growing organic vegetables, but I’m not sure what to use that will be affordable, unlike cedar. Are there chemicals in pressure-treated wood that might leech into the soil and possibly end up in my veggies?

I do allot of yard work during the spring and summer months and my hands get very callused. I’m not big on using chemicals on my skin. I have a HUGE herb garden so i was wondering if there was anything in there that i can use… i know almonds and oats work… but they can get expensive….. any ideas? I would really appreciate it.
