Super Jooje asked:

Long story short, I am new at organic gardening and I used a homemade soap concoction to kill bugs. Now, my plants are burned, specifically, squash, cauliflower, basil, and the tomatoes are showing some signs. My question: is there any hope for my babies? Is it possible they could rebound on their own, or is there something I could do to help them???

Thanks!
Julie

Hi -

My yard has a BUNCH of twigs and old leaves. There is also a mixture of just dirt and bugs — I was wondering if I need to get rid of everything - the old leaves and organic things and lay down new soil — or can I just plant with everything mixed together (the old stuff and new soil)? I was just wondering because removing everything will be a lot of work…i have never done this before!!

thanks!

Hi. (:
I’m just fairly new to gardening and I have a few questions before I go planting without knowing a few basic things…
1. What are nutrients essential for all kinds of plants? I know the three basics: sunlight, water and soil, but are there any hidden, organic materials you can add to better keep the plant sustained?
2. How deep the seeds should be in the soil? I might plant it too deep that it won’t shoot up the soil or too high that they won’t survive the heat at their growing stages. :\
3. What are good gardening websites, magazines, publications, etc. I can go to that has a lot to say about everything gardening?
4. What are good protection for plants without resorting to pesticides from bugs? Also, during weekends, I’m idle and away from my home so what ways can I keep my plants sustained, growing and protected?
5. What are good tropical plants (since I’m in a tropical region) that grow fast and can withstand enormous amounts of rain?
Tnx 2 any1 answering my questions! :]

I could see holes in the young leaves and mature too. Is there anything I can do ? I want to use only home made organic spray because of my young children like to play in the garden.

I am determined to have a garden this year without the bugs or diseases getting through to them first (hasn’t worked in the past). I also am trying to keep it organic since I have 2 small children. Any thoughts?
Cover them? How? Isn’t there any other way?

We have a few strawberry plants, but something is getting to them. We can’t find any bugs, but there is clearly somehting eating the plants. The foiledge is about half of what it used to be. The garden is organic, so we don’t use pesticides or fungicides, so we just don’t know what to to. Are there any natural remedies out there?

I moved from a suburb and have been trying to grow a garden in the woods. This is the second year I’ve tried and am failing again. My pepper plants are being eaten alive by bugs, my tomato plants have black spots, the deer were eating some of them so I made cages. Spiders are laying eggs all over my plants and I’m washing them off everyday. Some of my plants are turning yellow. I had a great garden when I lived in the city. Can someone help me please!?
