grow organic vegetables
Eli L asked:

If all the christians spent all the man hours that they waste in church every sunday..
-picking up trash
-planting trees
-engaging in scientific research on clean sources of energy
-growing organic vegetables
-actually helping their fellow humans
??
Yes I do all of these things.
The point was that even two hours a week (and most church goers I know spend far more time than that on church stuff every week) is not an insignificant amount of wasted time.

And even if you assume that all of us believer and non believer alike are equally good the atheist will always be 1.2% more effective than he who wastes his time worshipping a fairy tale.

Some of them do help their fellow humans. Christians and other believers and non-believers each have their fair share selfish hypocrites.

If we all had to account for every hour of wasted time in a week I think that we are all going to be in trouble. For example; How many hours spent on YA could have been better spent helping the environment?

it would be so much better, but you have to think realistically thats never going to happen, some people say i am a sinner because i do not go to church. Just because i do not got to church does not make me any less of a Christian/Catholic, i can pray at home. I am joining Deca in my school next year, it is this club were you help out the community and go to fund raisers and all that kind of stuff which i think would be so much better than going to church. Church does help gain anything or help people like the homeless out. Thinking about something and Doing it are to completely different things. it is funny how people worhip something that has no proof that it is true. i hope there is a God but i just cannot believe something people tell me or what is written down in a book (bible). if i see god with my own eyes then i will believe it. it is like a rumor that controls the whole world..

If we did it after Church, it would be a great world. All you non-believers could join in and we could really improve things around here. I’m up for it. How about you?

Good question.

I’m thinking we should build some huge space ships for them and send them off toward the center of the galaxy to begin convertng the rest of the universe…..

Much better. but they wont because they have no good in them at all. they are useless to the world. All they do is hate and destroy

AdoreHim on 9 June, 2009 at 8:12 pm #

You do realize don’t you that church is just a few hours out of the week- we do help our fellow man, we do good works that God has called us to do- and if we don’t we will be held accountable.- not by you , but by our great God. HITMAN - I agree with you- after those 2 hours in church sunday morning, I am free for the rest of the week-

So no Christians do these things? And praising God and learning about him is more important than these things combined

lynn on 10 June, 2009 at 8:00 am #

You spend a lot of time planning other people’s lives, or do you run your own life? It is your responsibility you know

$$V-G$$ on 13 June, 2009 at 7:56 pm #

christians believe what they want. they do work for god by worship and community service. remember this, 6 days of work rest on the 7th day.

e-Gospel on 15 June, 2009 at 8:09 am #

Christians help their fellow humans. They donate to charities, to help needy children and poor people.

We also spred the Word of God, and lead people to to Christ and eternal life!

fireman sam on 15 June, 2009 at 10:55 pm #

instead of ‘helping themselves’ right?

its easy to blame others… but do you do all those things?

Rev.Kip on 18 June, 2009 at 4:26 pm #

They spend the rest of the week doing these things. Why just use one day to do all these things?

God Bless!

heathcarrigan on 19 June, 2009 at 12:24 am #

Do you do any of this?

-picking up trash
-planting trees
-engaging in scientific research on clean sources of energy
-growing organic vegetables
-actually helping their fellow humans

The Christians aren’t the problem, at least they mean well.

momrfg2003 on 21 June, 2009 at 5:07 pm #

How about we continue to spend that time in church and still do that? We could say the same thing about time wasted at bars or other non work activities.

Kat O on 23 June, 2009 at 11:54 pm #

How much better would the world be if ALL inhabitants did those things??? Would help lighten the global warming talk maybe………….

It would be so much better!

I hate the war,crimes,etc. around here…

When can we finally have a world peace?!

I shouldn’t even bother to answer this question as it is really meant to put down Christians, but I’m going to anyway in the spirit of, hey, can’t we just get along…
I go to church on Sundays and come away inspired to spend the rest of the week doing whatever I can for my family, my local community and the world. I serve food at a homeless shelter, I participate regularly in our communities clean up days…we clean up around the American River, the local parks, etc. I could go on, but you ought to realize that if church is the place that some of us are energized to be better stewards of our earth than you should support us. I don’t know what you do to get inspired, but if it’s reading a book, participating in a class or conference of whatever I’m all for it.
Oh, and I do grow my own organic veggies which I gladly share with neighbors…oh my…some of them are atheists! Relax a bit…it’s better for your health and for the world.

I have said this before and I will say it again, It is really nice that some people spend time in Gods house ( church ) The time spent there is not wasted, but they have other times that they can spend doing the things you are suggesting, people think that just because they go to church, they are doing something good. What they do after church is what really counts, if they do the things you mentioned! A person doesn’t get to heaven, by just going to church!

Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from God!!

We can do everything clean up help out and all the other things but then we will die and after that face judgment and God will judge us!! i would rather spend the whole day locked up in my room praying and singing for my creator there is nothing that gives me saticifaction like worshping God and i would give anything in exchange for that…..

Everything is will pass but the word of God will stand and it comes first the rest come second after the church i can -picking up trash
-planting trees
-engaging in scientific research on clean sources of energy
-growing organic vegetables
-actually helping their fellow humans

by the way it’s God commands that we keep the sabth day holy.

so to answer you question i think the world would be really boring…….
