Why Do Republicans Feel It’s Necessary to Lie About Legislation with Which They Disagree?

Truth hurts on 11 May, 2010 at 7:36 pm #

Because the Truth Hurts.

Pat on 13 May, 2010 at 7:39 pm #

Because they can’t get what they want when they tell the truth.

Actually, lying is such a way of life for them that they don’t know how to tell the truth.

NEO-MARXISM, Change We Can Fear on 14 May, 2010 at 5:54 am #

Obama claimed a tax cut for 95% of working families……except today announced EVERYONE’s taxes are going up.

whatever.

paulj53@att.net on 17 May, 2010 at 11:05 am #

You are delusional.

PARKERD on 17 May, 2010 at 12:05 pm #

Well, the last few years the truth has not been to kind to them, so I guess it is a change in tactics.

BadBeast on 19 May, 2010 at 4:58 am #

It’s not just republicans, all Politicians are liars, and Charlatans. Nothing they say can be believed.

Seldon Surak on 20 May, 2010 at 5:38 am #

the ONLY way they can win an election is to LIE
WHY?
Because they take care of big business and the rich and THAT IS NEVER A MAJORITY!

REPUBLICANS LIKE CORPORATIONS MORE THAN THEY CARE ABOUT PEOPLE.

The most powerful economic engine in the world is the American economy.
The Republicans seem to comprehend that.
But, the most powerful component of that engine is the American CONSUMER – responsible for 70% of that economy.
Yet, the Republicans seem not to get the connection between that fact, and the fact that CONSUMERS ARE THE VERY PEOPLE THEY CONSISTENTLY WORK AGAINST!
When will they learn, you can’t have a good economy if it’s bad for the middle class?

THEY SAY THEY ARE FOR SMALLER GOVERNMENT.
But, what they mean is that they are for smaller government interference in BUSINESS.
They don’t want consumer protection measures, or any kind of government oversight.
So, a business can be negligent in manufacturing a product and a consumer can be injured. That consumer won’t have universal health coverage; the republicans don’t want them to have that. The injured consumer can’t afford the lost income from time off work, much less the expensive medical procedures they need, but when they sue to be compensated for this disaster, the republicans call that a FRIVOLOUS LAWSUIT, and have taken measures to minimize financial damages TO THE BUSINESS!

FACE IT, REPUBLICANS CARE MORE ABOUT CORPORATIONS THAN THEY DO FOR HUMANS

jackie on 20 May, 2010 at 9:32 am #

Because they are politicians, that’s what they do. Republican, Democrat, all the same.

Stl_6string on 22 May, 2010 at 10:08 pm #

Because I’ve read Rahm’s book on service, Dashel’s book on Healthcare and bothered to look at how Obama has voted on gun control.

I also know that democrat never do what they say the will do. They always hide little detail until the last minute and pretend that had to do something else.

Liberal AssKicker on 29 May, 2010 at 1:32 pm #

Why do you think factcheck.org is an unbiased source of information?

Doesn’t it seem a bit left-leaning to you?

(I’ve always wondered what it’s like to be so easily suckered.)

Dill Doe on 30 May, 2010 at 6:02 am #

Do you really believe that only the Republicans lie? I don’t trust any of them because with very few exceptions are all out for personal gain and answer to masters outside of the U.S.. Obama = Bush Lite.

Captain Awesome on 30 May, 2010 at 3:46 pm #

You’re making sweeping generalizations on Republicans. Ask me about them I’ll clear it up for you.

Carol A on 31 May, 2010 at 11:20 pm #

Republicans are notorious for pandering to low-information voters. This used to be their winning strategy along with basic fear tactics. Fortunately, the majority of voters have awakened to their scams which is the major reason the GOP adherents are approximately 20% today.

Dagny K on 1 June, 2010 at 3:50 am #

Good God man if you want to talk about lying, start with your own party.

There is soooooooo much of it there is not enough room to go into it here.

Why don’t you do some reading.

Start with Obama denying then admitting his association with Ayers (who bombed the Pentagon) and then go on to why Obama fought a lawsuit to the Supreme Court rather than produce his birth certificate.

After that, if you still truly believe in this man, you should have your head examined.

Michael P in NJ on 3 June, 2010 at 6:48 pm #

I don’t think they feel a necessity to lie about it… I think they feel a compulsion to do so. They can’t help themselves. They are addicted to lies. They are powerless to stop them.

The first step is admitting you have a problem. The second is believing in a higher power — except, to them, a higher power is either Ronald Reagan or Rush Limbaugh.

Nikki on 5 June, 2010 at 10:14 am #

Well they allways here how they should be more like democrats

Laissez-Faire Guy on 8 June, 2010 at 7:17 pm #

I’m still waiting for 95% of us to start paying less taxes.

Cubby on 9 June, 2010 at 2:37 pm #

you forgot to lump pelosi and all of the other dems in here too.

what about the felons in obama’s cabinet? acorn voter reg fraud?

your party is by far the source of all the upheavel nation wide.

g on 11 June, 2010 at 10:10 pm #

they often don’t so much lie… just take these issues out of context to the point it’s almost funny…

they will take one line out of those bills and use it in a completely different context…

there are limits to everything… we have free speech, but we can’t yell fire in a crowded theater… which is basically the position they are taking on all these bills…

Locutus2of1 on 12 June, 2010 at 7:01 am #

Hate crime legislation is the same as double jeopardy and is charging someone for their beliefs which is a violation of the first amendment and I don’t give a damn what fact check says. If you think you can trust any media you are a fool, if you think you can trust people that do nothing but make up laws that limit our rights you are a bigger fool.

Abortion is murder and you can argue it forever but it will still be murder.
