grow organic vegetables
xXxShadowsOfThePastxXx asked:

My mother and I are planning to grow some organic vegetables this year. We want to keep the bugs away, however, we don’t want to use pesticides full of chemicals, that would be defeating a major purpose of us growing them ourselves. So; I was wondering if anyone knew any way’s that we could keep the bugs away naturally.

Any true answers would be appreciated.

I know it might sound absurd but one way to help keep bugs away is to keep all tall weeds down within feet of the border of the garden. Tall weed and some bushes attract them. Even tall grass will attact them so do your best to eliminate all tall vegetation.

Here is a natural bug repellant: Get a clear plastic spray bottle (or recycle a windex spray bottle). Add about 1 tablespoon of garlic powder/per cup of water. The finer the powder the better it desolves. Add a drop of regular dish soap per cup of water. The soap helps the spray to adhere to the leaves of the plant. You will want to spray throughly the top and underside of the leaves. Also if it rains a lot or after you water you will want to respray. This has been an effective repellent for most insects. Though sometimes the sulpher that is in the garlic attracts some types of flys but they usually leave once they realize its garlic.
