7. 8 - 2s 20 subtact 8 from both sides
-2s 12 divide both sides by -2. Since you are dividing by a negative number, the
changes to a
s -6 answer is a)

24 Coupon price = 12 + .5t where t is number of toppings
Store special price = 10.50 + t

You need 12 + .5t = 10.5 + t start by subtracting 10.5 from both sides to get

1.5 + .5t = t and now subtract .5t from both sides to get

1.5 = .5t and finally multiply both sides by 2 to get

3 = t

25 6z - 3 15 add 3 to both sides to get
6z 18 divide both sides by 3 to get
z 3

so z = -6, - 5 are the ones that work

11. v = lwh, and you have that v = 6, w = 3 and h = 1. plug in all that to get

6 = l(3)(1) = 3l

if 3l = 6 then divide both sides by 3 to get l = 2. Answer is b)

7) 8 - 2s 20

-2s 20 - 8

-2s 12

2s - 12

s - 6

…………………………………………………

24) let x = no of toppings and y = price

0.5x + 12 = y
x + 10.5 = y

0.5x -y = -12
x -y = - 10.5

subtract

-0.5x = - 1.5

0.5x = 1.5

x = 1.5/0.5

x = 3

subst this value for x in either of the two equations

3 - y = - 10.5

-y = -10.5 - 3

-y = -13.5

y = 13.5

so 3 toppings would make them both 13.50 dollars, so the answer is 3.

…………………………………………

25) 6z - 3 15

6z 15 + 3

6z 18

z 3

true for -6 and -5

……………………………..

11) 6 = l x 3

3l = 6

l = 2

so the answer is b), 2 feet.
