organic gardening help
pat asked:

I don’t want to use chemical products and I don’t want to poison them either. I just want them to be repulsed somehow by using some natural spray.

A cat or two works best.

What have you got against small animals?

A few dishes full of urine placed around the garden might help. It’ll also keep your neighbors from stealing any veggies.

If you or a friend has cats, I’ve heard that putting used cat litter around the garden works well. There are also fences, but not for squirrels and I agree with the person who says that a cat will keep them away.

Yes, cats or a dog will do the trick, but for more humane ways, try steeping some chewing tabbaco in hot H2O for a couple hours, put into a spray bottle, ( the steeped brew only) and spray away. They don’t really like the smell of tabbacco. Or even used cigarette butts spread around I’ve heard work as well. A very strong thing as well to use, it a very strong cayenne pepper, mix it up in a spray bottle, and spray away. I hope this helps you out. Try the web site of Jerry Baker, he’s a master gardener, and doesn’t like using noxious chemicals, but instead likes to use every day household items, Like I said I hope this helps you out. Let me know of how it works if you try it, Take care.

There are some squirrel repellents available. I believe they are made from the scent of natural predators so they should be organic and not harm them. See them at:

Goto a hair cutting buisness and ask them to give you a days worth of hair cuttings. Then you spread the hair all around the borders of your garden. Most animals will avoid anything that smells like a human. At least it worked for the deer that were eating my flowers. Also, some urine in strategic places will help as well.
