organic gardening
Franzia asked:

I’m in So. AZ. I have a small garden area that I’d like to plant potatoes. I’ve never done that before and I don’t know anything at all about planting potatoes. I have a white sweet potato that looks ready to do something with but I don’t know how to cut it up or how to plant it.

I have a bowl of fingerling potatoes that have grown eyes and I want to try to see if they’ll make potatoes.

I have a raised bed garden that has soil about 2′ deep. We compost and do all organic, etc… How much room do they need and how do I do it! Aaaarg! Help!!!

Plant them in a deep 8-12 trench; add manure to the bottom and mix it in. Then add the plants, and as they grow upward, fill in the trench around them a little at a time, even mounding it up above ground level a bit. Just don’t get ahead of the foliage. You will get a much greater yield than just planing them at regular depth.
