organic gardening help
meg d asked:

with out using chemicals? I am growing an organic veggie garden, and have an ant infestation in my peas. Any recommendations for me?
I am not using chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and I am especially NOT using ROUND-UP! I am looking for organic home remedies, if possible

I’m not sure if I remember correctly or not, but i’ve heard that marigold flowers are really good to put in a flower bed or garden to help pest control. I believe they come back each year. I’m not an expert or anything. You might check with a landscaping company or plant nursery.

Why do people always want to kill things?

Sprinkle talcum powder around, that should keep them away.

My garden center guru just told me they don’t like Penny Royal! It is a ground cover type plant that when you touch it smells like mint. And it’s a pretty dark green color. I’m trying it. Hate ants!

sprinkle some de swimming pool filter powder on it.you can get this at home depot walmart or hardware stores sprinkle this on ground.put it on dry.this is all natural it wont hurt plants.made of crushed seashells and fish bone.may take two or three times.the ants eat it and it cuts them up from the inside.it will kill the whole mound i have tried it and it works

Instant grits. Dad uses it, and we dont have much of an ant problem anymore.

Spray fast-moving water on them.
OR
Use a ’sticky’ lure trap. It works all the time.
