I’ve seen so much about planting seeds indoors, it seems the cost is way to expensive to even try it (just get the transplants). The problem is I really don’t want transplants this year, but I really don’t wanna spend crazy amounts of money on getting seeds started. From what I’ve read I need grow lights, mats, seed starting mix, organic containers to put them in.
So my first thought is….what did people do thousands and millions of years (or maybe even my grandpa’s generation) ago before gardening became commercial?
My question is…
Do I really need a heated mat, lights, blah, blah blah. I’ve read a little about putting seeds on top of the fridge (which is waaaay cheaper than the mats and lights!) So please let me know! Do I need all the expensive stuff from burpee.com or is there old fashioned, tried and true ways I can get my seeds going?
BTW - I a container gardener this year ![]()
Thanks!
So for seeds all I need is miracle gro potting soil and not some seed starting mix???
Does anyone know where I can find any information on starting an organic, edible garden with limited space, such as on a patio?
Anyways, I want to find soil that doesnt contain anything with animal stuff so i can keep my family safe (of course we wash the produce before consuming but that doesnt always work especially with spinish) and preferably organic.
i was thinknig about a hydroponic garden but that would be too complicated to build as we already have a green house but arent interested in hooking anything up like tha.t
thanks.
I’m assuming that they are gnats? They look like them anyway. If they are gnats, do they pose a problem to the garden?
Thanks very much.
We have 3 apple trees that grow many apples every year. We don’t do anything to the trees (so could they be sold as organic?). How can I tell when they are ready to be picked and what kind they are?
Thanks!
