organic gardening tips
keina_x asked:

My 13 month old doesn’t eat his Gerber puree’s anymore. He has gotten so used to eating the food I make. Real food. LOL! I have several of the jars and boxes of puree’s, but I don’t want them to go to waste. Any idea’s on how to mix them in with what I cook. Someone gave me a tip to use the carrot puree in the spaghetti sauce. He loved it. Does anyone have any other ideas like that. The left over jar food/puree’s I have are:
*Organic Banana
*DHA Banana Peach
*Peas
*Carrots
*Turkey Rice
*Garden Veggie
*Beef Veggie
*Chicken dinner

I have tried mixing it into his Gerber cereal, but he won’t eat it like that either, he only like’s his cereal mixed with his milk. Thanks so much!
He does eat food now. But I just thought people would have tips. It’s not gross to mix it, so don’t know why someone said ew. Couldn’t even taste the carrots in the speghetti. I’d donate them, but like I said just though someone would have some good tips.

After researching this website for my question above, I found an old resolved question that indicated all moms believed Beech Nut to be organic and were happily feeding it to their babies. I investigated a little further by writting to the company direclty, and here’s the answer I received: Dear Ms. Gillies,
Thank you for writing. Beech-Nut products are not certified organic. As
part of our commitment to giving babies a healthy start in life, we’ve
taken a leadership role in keeping pesticide residues to an absolute
minimum. Our pesticide standards are significantly stricter than the
Federal requirements. In fact, levels in our baby foods are negligible to
non-detectable, making our products comparable to those containing
organically grown fruits and vegetables. Non-organic and organic
commercial baby foods are equally as safe and are equally nutritional.
I will stick to Earth’s Best, Organic Baby and whatever else I can find at organic markets such as Mrs. Greens. Beware!

I am asking this because sometimes I can’t find organic fruits, vegetables or meats in the stores. Or sometimes I can find them but they are so expensive that the baby food jars–even organic ones–turn out being significantly cheaper. What is your opinion of the healthier option?
Total Recipe Hound: No, what I meant is that sometimes I can’t find the organic ingredients to make the baby food at home. Gerber food is always available. But if Gerber is always made out of organic ingredients, then why do they have a separate organic line?
