Lady asked:

I currently homeschool my children, but I would like to take more of an unschooling approach. I have searched the internet endlessly, but I haven’t found anything helpful.
Here are my main questions and concerns:
*How do you unschool? Everything on the Internet just says ‘Unschooling can’t be defined’ or ‘We just do what works best for us’. I need a real answer. What is a common apporoach to unschooling? A typical unschool day?
*How will my kids learn what they need to know? It just doesn’t seem realistic. Cam math (high grade levels) be learned outside of a textbook?
*MONEY! It seems like all the unschooling parents are rich! I am a single mother, and we do not have a lot of disposable income. We don’t have time to bake our own bread and sew our own clothes and grow our own organic gardens.
*I am not religious. It seems like every website about unschooling is is run by religious freaks.
So, what I am looking for is advice, resources, links to websites, etc.
Keep in mind, I don’t have a lot of money to do things with and I am not religious.
Answers Needed! All Serious Answers Greatly Appreciated!!! PLEASE ANSWER!
Thanks In Advance!
Also, about the religious freak comment, I hope I disn’t offend anyone. I did not mean that all religious people are freaks.
I simply meant that it is nearly impossible to fing a non religious based homeschool group.
My daughters (twins) are in 6th grade, in case this helps.

organic gardening
Proud Army Wife! asked:

My 9 year old daughter decided that she is going to be more environmentally friendly. It’s awesome for me because I’m learning beside her. We have planted a huge garden and are trying to keep it as organic as possible. She is wanting to pick up trash out of the woods and plant more trees and plants to help the environment. Recycling is a biggie too. She also would like to be a vegatarian but loves chicken so she’s pretty much just a veggie eater that eats chicken! These are really great things and I’m excited that she has a direction she would like to explore.

We do homeschooling based on what she is interested in then plug in math, reading, etc into that interest. So, I guess my question is……..

Does anyone know of good kid friendly sites that I can help base our studies around? Or any sites that would basically just help me out? We have just started the whole organic gardening/eating different thing and are trying very hard to learn more.
busymom, Please tell your daughter thank you very much. Those sites were perfect. Exactly the kind of info I’m looking for.
