I understand that it passed the senate. Did it ever get signed into law? Some of the provisions of the bill would make it illegal to grow your own food and share it with friends and neighbors without severe government regulations. Combine this with the police raid on a food coop named rawesome foods in Venice, Ca in 2010. If this bill gets turned into law, it could really get crazy. Check out the police raid on youtube.com. Now imagine that you can’t buy and sell unless you have a certain mark and the police kick in your door because you and your friends are growing an organic garden of food.
O.K. I did some more checking. It didn’t become law. It passed the senate. Was never voted on by the house and signed by the president. Since the senate thought it was such a great idea 73 ayes vs. 23 nays, can they submit it again in the next session of congress?

What happened to the cool liberal hippie generation who wanted to buck, the system, grow their own food, take care of themselves and get rid of big government infringing on their freedom? Nationalized Health Care from a govt that can’t even collect taxes properly - is this where my massage therapist/holistic health/organic loving friends are going to want to be - in a Nationalized one size fits all health care plan that takes even MORE money out of their pockets? With NAIS and MONSANTO growling down their backs about their backyard chickens and vegetables that they want to keep track of? What happened tree huggers and naturalists and environmentalists - have you all gone mad?

Great! What do you know about the following proposed legislation?

H.R. 759: Food Drug Administration Globalization Act of 2009
H.R. 875: Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009
H.R. 2749: Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009
S. 425: Food Safety and Tracking Improvement Act

I have heard rumors here and there that they could potentially make organic and other small farms, possibly even family gardens, financially unviable due to government interference. If true, this issue would be very important to the livelihood of all Americans, political persuasions aside.

What do you know about these fast-tracked food safety bills?
Obama has betrayed small farmers with his appointments of Taylor and Vilsack. But to those who squarely blame Obama Admin. for this, read the following quote:

Agricultural biotechnology will find a supporter occupying the White House next year, regardless of which candidate win the election in November

Courteous answers please.
O.K. ohiorgan.. your link has a virus, so I suggest noone click on to it. Why would I read a gov evaluation of their own bill? Also, now my above link is invalid, so I am adding it so that the video that I referenced can be seen.

We all saw the oddly considerable attention given to Michelle Obama’s organic garden at the White House, but I saw inconsistency. Barack placed biotech chum Tom Vilsack in the Secretary of Agriculture chair, and more recently named Michael Taylor, a Monsanto lobbyist, to be senior advisor to the Food and Drug Administration. So what’s with the mixed messages here?

Check this out:
http://www.dailyfinance.com/2009/07/30/michelle-obamas-toxic-veggie-nightmare-white-house-organic-gar/

The propaganda emerges. Michelle’s organic veggies are toxic. What a catastrophe, right? So what is the government going to do about it?

HR 759: Food Drug Administration Globalization Act of 2009
HR 875: Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009
HR 2749: Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009
S 425: Food Safety and Tracking Improvement Act

They’re going to place Orwellian regulations on food which will disproportionately impact small family farms, organic farms, and potentially even family gardens. Monsanto, ADM, Tyson and other enormous agricultural and biotech corporations are sponsoring this legislation. I answered my own question, so I’ll pose a new one.

Who is angry about this? And who is willing to contact their representatives and express their feelings and convictions about this legislation?
