Thank you for your help in advance!
After some reading on the Vitamin D Council’s site, I discovered that plants, apparently, do not produce vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol).
http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/vitaminDPharmacology.shtml
They only produce vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol).
The product I ordered:
http://www.nutricentre.com/p-44737-sol-garden-vitamin-d3-5000-iu.aspx
says it contains cholecalciferol. If this is the case, is it ergocalciferol instead? D2? Or is cholecalciferol somehow added. The product description doesn’t lead you to this conclusion.
‘Source of Life Garden™ Vitamin D3 Caps with Organic Gold Standard Nutrients is the first supplement to provide 5000 IU of 100% plant-source cholecalciferol’
Has anyone done anything like this in the past that knows what the background science behind it is?
If you know any websites that may be able to help please add them too.
Thanks,
