Is there a big difference in the way they benefit ur health or is the supermarket variety useless?
Then in 7th or 8th grade. A lot of my previous classmates went to my same junior high. And told me that BOTH of my teachers on each side of the hall, at the end of the hall, by the back doors died of cancer.
And when I got to my friends house outside the city, I see planes spraying chemicals on the crops. and there are warnings that people who are surrounded by crops that spray poison have a higher risk of health issues. Like asthma or something.
And well. I don’t want to eat that. I don’t want to spray harsh chemicals on my food everyday, then wash it off and eat it. That just cant be good.
So im going to have my own garden.
Any one know all natural ways to keep the bugs off. What do you do? Spray water on it everyday? Vinagre? Lemon juice?
(ps. Im asking this in the alternative med section, because i figured people in here know a lot of places to get organic stuff)
I feel if they had programs in schools where the kids grew organic gardens and prepared their own food, this would help teach nutrition from any early age or I have also seen pilot programs where they schools contract with local farmers for organic meats and program and grains and it is about the same as the garbage they usually serve and they let the kids cook/prepare it and they start loving things like kale and beets and stuff you would not think they would like. How can more of these programs be started.
also what tips can you offer for parents trying to teach their kids to eat right.
oops error above program should be produce..I typed that wrong.
well dumpling they have had great results here in program..they find the kids transform the whole family to better eating, that they eat all their healthy foods unlike schools I witnessed where all the fruits was throw away etc..I was shocked at the waste of food, they find the farmers benefit and the environment and I have seen kids I taught nutrition to, love things like dulse (sea veggies) to the surprise of other teachers.
Here are some articles on the success of such programs

also I saw some ideas for how to get such programs in your child’s school in some of these articles. I imagine in the UK program, many of the teachers were not committed to and enthusiastic about it and this helped it to fail;
who is saying people must be forced to eat well or eat only plants or organic. I noted in a previous question you answered that I was glad everyone did not all do good foods and drugs because we don;t have enough…at this point we can decide which we want to do and I am glad I am doing it my way and you yours. I only care about those who want help or better health –not those content with their junk foods and drugs. But kids deserve our best I feel and a chance in the face of all the junk food out there and advertising.
Also we can support a lot more people on a acre of plant food than on using the land for animals and their massive use of plant foods. Eliminating the middle and eating the grains directly instead of via the cow or pig is more sustainable,
I do not eat only vegetarian or organic myself but I try to use organic when I can afford it and take in lots of whole grains and produce and legumes etc.
