I want to start my own organic garden, but what I am wondering is.. Is it okay to plant organic plants in plastic containers? Or do they pick up the toxins from them? I don’t believe in using plastic because it’s manufacture is horrible for the environment, but if it’s already made, can I use it??
Basically I just need to know if all sorts of nasty things will harm the organic nature of my plants if planted in plastic.

I have to leave my garden. I usually handpick the beetles. My asparagus has been ferned out for awhile but the beetles are all over. I am organic. Dont want to spray. Will these worms kill my next year crop. If I have to treat any suggestions? The worms will skeletonize the ferns if not picked..

I have 4 kids (my five-year-old twin girls, my three-year-old little boy, and my two-year-old little girl). I dont understand how my children can visit a playmate’s house and come home saying they ate fruit roll ups, Mcdonalds, mac and cheese, candy bars, hot dogs, TV dinners, etc..for their lunch or dinner. I only feed my kids organic fresh foods. I have a huge Organic garden at my house outside Los Angeles and we grow tons of fruits and vegetables, have free range chickens, fresh eggs, etc.. My kids had never even ate at a fast food joint before friends parents took them to one without my permission. My kids eat all our home-grown fruits and vegetables, the free-range organic meats that I buy, etc… Never highly processed junk, full of stuff you can’t even pronounce. I don’t ever buy anything that’s not natural, or else from our own garden. Am I wrong by this? I understand when my kids are older they can make their own choice but I want to instill in them these values now, because that’s what my parents did for me. My kids love the food we eat, but now also ask me for crap when I’m driving and they’re in the car and we go past a fast food place, or when we’re at a store. Is it wrong of me to say something to these parents about not offering my kids that junk?
Yeah maybe it would be best if I just pack their lunches for them from now on whenever they go to see a playmate…
Well I think a healthy diet is worth the extra cost when you consider it lowers the chance of heart attacks, diabetes, high cholesterol, cancer, obesity, etc…when they’re older

is sethoxydim an organic herbicide? It appears to have C-H bonds so this makes it organic? How to tell if it organic? The chemical symbol is C17H29NO3S. I want to make sure to use only organic chemicals on my garden. What about Malathion?

I don’t know what is eating our strawberries, but there’s a few that look like bites were taken out of it. All I can see currently in our garden is ants and aphids. Is there any natural way to keep pests off our strawberries? We’ll be rigging something up to avoid birds getting into there, but need an insect remedy that is safe as well as organic. We’re not into using pesticides.

I bought a bag of Miracle Grow Organic Garden Soil and after I opened it, I realized it wasn’t for containers. I’ve already read a ton of posts that you need to mix something with it or else the soil will compact and hold too much water. What I’m wondering is, what do I mix and how much? I’ve read everything from saw dust to peat moss so what would work best for vegetables? And what ratio do I add it to the garden soil? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
