I have these tiny black grasshoppers with a red stripe along their sides. They are attacking various plants, what is a good way to rid the garden of them without chemical pesticides?

I saw a similar question posted about a year ago, and now I have the same question:

We’re not too serious, but now I’m curious. If I, someone who has never spent time on a farm, but has spent a lot of time gardening, decided to start a farm, what all would it take to get it up and going? What happens with the business loan I would need to buy the farm? I know it takes years to start seeing any profit from a business. It seems like if you got a loan to buy a farm it would be in the process of being foreclosed on before you really started to make money. Does anybody start new farms anymore? Or are pretty much all farms handed down through generations?

I am not using chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and I am especially NOT using ROUND-UP! I am looking for organic home remedies, if possible

In seedling pots, there always seems to be white stuff on the top of the soil. They look like little rocks.

Is it fertilizer? Or is it organic enough that I don’t need to worry?

I am having a hard time with my son and his diet. I noticed that when we eat all organic food, his attitude improves dramaticly. (He’s 8, a little overweight, and very willful). We recently moved out into the country, and driving to the store to get food is 30 miles away. How do you buy organic on a budget? With the price of gas, and the price of organic food, how can you afford to do the right thing for your child (as well as the environment)? Any advice would be helpful!

P.S. We are working on having an organic garden this year, but it takes time to get there, so in the meantime…

Will it every be a good place for gardening vegtables and fruit. I want to do organic gardening. How would I do this without contaiminating my crop? Small home consumpson only.

The people before me used pestisides I know because they left them in the garage. The house was built in 1952.

Please serious answers only. I know this can be done.

How do I protect new soil I import and new plants?
I did not write down what they were before I sent them to hazardous waste. I would imagine just weed killers and anything goes because they were old. It could have been things outlawed now.
Sorry about being rude about the serious answers part. I just am tired of getting rude answers. I will take answers that are suggestions.
I have been here for 5 years and have applied no chemicals. I do not need organic certification because this is for my own consumption. I just need to know it is safe.
I prefer to use marigolds to keep pests away or other natural methods.
It is nice to know the yard can recover. It is desert land, so It has not received much water, but I guess I could till it and water it and till and mix some good soil in and fertilize.

I have a vegetable garden and bugs are eating my basil and also something is eating on my green pepper plants. I think the bugs might be leaf hoopers. My tomato plants look fine so far. So, I’m looking for a homemade recipe that will help prevent and kill these pest. Would a red pepper spray work or dish soap? Any ideas? Thank you!
